Rockport Police Department Seeks Community’s Help to Identify Suspects Responsible for Multiple Cases of Vandalism
ROCKPORT – Chief John Horvath and the Rockport Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying or providing additional information about suspects involved in several incidents of vandalism in the city over the last seven weeks.
“It is unfortunate that there are individuals in our community who choose to be disrespectful by vandalizing the property of others, and this will not be tolerated,” Chief Horvath said. “We are asking residents to assist us in identifying these suspects so they will be held accountable for their actions. Anyone with information regarding any of these cases should contact Rockport Police.”
According to the Rockport Police Department, there have been five cases of vandalism and graffiti since November:
- Nov. 27, 2015: Police responded to My Place By The Sea on Bearskin Neck on a report that the business’ front door had been egged.
- Dec. 31, 2015: Police responded to the Waddell Skate Park on Pooles Lane on a report of vandalism involving spray paint/graffiti.
- Jan. 9, 2016: Police responded to a vacant building on Granite Street on a report of vandalism involving spray paint/graffiti and property damage.
- Jan. 10, 2016: Police responded to My Place By The Sea on Bearskin Neck on a report that the business’ front door had been egged for a second time.
- Jan. 12, 2016: Police responded to the men’s restroom at T-Wharf on a report of vandalism involving graffiti.
Rockport Police believe based on preliminary information that the two incidents at My Place By the Sea are related to one another. The Skate Park incident and the Granite Street incident appear connected to each other as well.
Anyone with information related to these incidents should contact the Rockport Police Department at 978-546-1212.
