Arlington Police Investigating Car that Crashed into Pharmacy

No Serious Injuries

ARLINGTON — Chief Frederick Ryan reports that the Arlington Police Department is investigating an incident where a motor vehicle crashed into another car and then into a pharmacy building last night.

Arlington Police and Fire responded to the Walgreens Pharmacy located at 1425 Massachusetts Ave. at 7:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 24 for a report of a motor vehicle crash. Soon after arrival, investigators determined that 53-year-old man backed his minivan out of a parking spot at the pharmacy, crashed into another vehicle, reversed course, accelerated into the building, and accelerated again, striking a retaining wall.

The building was not significantly damaged, but the force of the impact was enough to knock items from the shelves of the store.

The driver was evaluated at the scene but declined further treatment. No one else, inside or outside the store, was hurt.

No charges have been filed at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.

“Our preliminary investigation indicates that the driver may have become disoriented and confused,” Chief Ryan said. “Thankfully, no one was seriously hurt last night.”
