Tyngsborough Police Department Participates In No-Shave November

TYNGSBOROUGH — Chief Richard D. Howe is pleased to report that the Tyngsborough Police Department is participating in No-Shave November to tackle some of the biggest health issues men encounter face-first.

For the entire month of November, Tyngsborough police officers will donate money the Movember Foundation — a global charity committed to men living happier, healthier, longer lives — to grow out their facial hair. Nine officers are currently participating and as of Friday afternoon had already raised $1,390.

The Movember Foundation raises money and awareness every year at this time for men’s health and cancer. Since 2003, millions have joined the no-shave movement, raising $650 million to support more than 1,000 programs focusing on prostate cancer, testicular cancer, poor mental health and physical inactivity.

“We are thrilled to be involved in this fun and unique fundraising campaign to support research for men’s health issues,” Chief Howe said. “It’s our goal that conversations will be started, and awareness and money raised, as residents see our officers proudly displaying their mustaches in the community.”

To support the Tyngsborough Police Department and the Movember Foundation, donations can be made through the department’s Tyngsborough Blue team page.
