Rockport Police to Hold Child Identification Kit Event

ROCKPORT — Chief John Horvath and the Rockport Police Department announce they will be holding a Child Identification Kit Event next week, in collaboration with The Rotary Club of Rockport.

“This is a fun event for the kids and can be an extremely valuable resource for parents,” Chief Horvath said. “It’s a great opportunity to give the kids a chance to meet and interact with police officers and get a chance to look inside our newest police cruiser.”

The event is for all Rockport students in pre-school through fifth grade, and will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 27 from 3-8 p.m. in the cafeteria of the Rockport Elementary School, 34 Jerdens Lane.

The Rotary Club of Rockport is sponsoring the event in order to provide parents and guardians with a free ID Kit that they can maintain for each child. Each ID Kit will contain the child’s fingerprints, which will be taken on-site by Rockport Police officers.

Additionally, parents and guardians can fill out an emergency information card that includes contact phone numbers, a growth chart, dental chart, current photograph, personal profile, physical characteristics, and a DNA sample.

Parents and guardians are responsible for taking the ID Kits home, they will not be kept by the police department.
