Melrose Police Department Receives $5,000 Donation to Support R.A.D. Program
MELROSE — Chief Michael L. Lyle would like to thank the Melrose Running Club for their $5,000 donation to the Melrose Police Department’s Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) program.
Representatives from the running club presented Chief Lyle with their contribution on Tuesday night.
The Melrose Police Department will be hosting a R.A.D. with Keys class in late October.
“It is because of our community partners that we are able to offer these programs to residents,” Chief Lyle said. “We certainly appreciate the Melrose Running Club’s generosity and look forward to providing the R.A.D. class to the women in our city.”
The R.A.D. system is dedicated to teaching women defensive concepts and techniques against various types of assaults by utilizing easy, effective and proven self-defense tactics. The course begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, while progressing on the basics of hands-on defense training.
