GROTON — Chief Donald Palma Jr. reports that the Groton Police Department last evening located an 18-year-old had been reported missing from Westford.

The teenager had been reported missing since he failed to return from a walk Thursday morning. His disappearance spurred a large search from multiple public safety agencies in the area.

Groton Police received a call at 11:57 p.m. from a passing motorist on Route 40, one mile from the Westford town line, who reported seeing a person that matched the teenager’s description.

Sgt. Jason Goodwin responded to the area and determined it was the missing person.  Westford Police were contacted and responded to the location. They then transported the teen back to his residence.

“It’s always a relief when these searches end positively,” Chief Palma said. “We were happy to see the teen was unharmed, and the Groton Police Department was glad to be of assistance.”
