Methuen Police Expand Fleet with Two Polaris eBikes

METHUEN — Chief Joseph Solomon is pleased to announce that the Methuen Police Department acquired two Polaris eBikes to expand its fleet and further the department’s Community Policing philosophy.

Methuen officers are now riding the Rapid Response Team Safety Model, which is specifically designed for police use. It can reach up to 20 miles per hour with the assistance of a 750 watt motor.

The eBikes also increase an officer’s ability to patrol for long periods of time. They will be utilized on the Rail Trail that runs through the community and at several events like the fireworks, parades and other city festivals.

“Our eBikes will allow us to respond faster to calls for service,” Chief Solomon said. “We have enjoyed the positive reactions from citizens who have interacted with officers on patrol in the neighborhood.”

Polaris develops and designs their eBikes using the latest green, electric power technology in conjunction with a sleek design. This allows riders to navigate narrow streets and lanes, which are often difficult for emergency vehicles and patrol cars to reach quickly. In turn, first responders expand their range and arrive faster while conserving energy.
