Bedford Police Quickly Arrest Suspect in Wednesday’s Home Invasion
BEDFORD — Chief Robert Bongiorno reports that the Bedford Police Department, acting swiftly in response to a violent incident in the community, arrested a man early this morning and charged him in connection with Wednesday’s armed home invasion and robbery.

VINI BUNTED PROEUNG, AGE 20, OF LOWELL, was arrested in Lowell, in cooperation with the Lowell Police Department, the Billerica Police Department, and State Police Detectives. He was charged with:
- Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon
- Use of Firearm in Commission of a Felony
- Armed and Masked Robbery
- Home Invasion (Three Counts – one count for each victim)
- Use of a Firearm without a Firearm Identification Card
Chief Bongiorno praised the work of Bedford Police Detectives, who worked nonstop since police responded at 2 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a person shot in an apartment in North Road. Upon arrival on Wednesday, officers located three men, in their 20s, who told police that they were attacked by three other men who broke into the apartment. One of the victims was shot in the leg, and the other two were beaten. All three were hospitalized and treated for serious but non life-threatening injuries.
“This was an extremely unusual incident for Bedford. Bedford is a safe, family-oriented town that consistently ranks as one of the safest communities in the nation,” Chief Bongiorno said. “So when someone decides to violate the peace of the evening in our community, we will act very swiftly and aggressively to send a message that this kind of behavior will simply not be tolerated.”
Bedford Police determined that PROEUNG had a prior relationship with at least one of the victims through through his place of employment. The suspects allegedly had reason to believe that the victims had drugs in their apartment.
This was not a random act of violence.
Bedford Police are working to identify two additional suspects and expect to announce additional charges shortly.
PROEUNG will be arraigned this afternoon in Concord District Court.
