CHELMSFORD – Police Chief James M. Spinney reports that the Chelmsford Police Department arrested a Mattapan man allegedly involved in several larcenies at Chelmsford High School. The suspect is now wanted by police after he skipped his arraignment this morning.
LAMAR R. WRIGHT, AGE 34, OF MATTAPAN is charged with two counts of larceny from a building, fraudulent use of a credit card and receiving stolen property under $250.
WRIGHT worked as a night custodian at the school through a third party vendor.
Police used surveillance footage from the high school and from a local convenience store to help build the case for his arrest. The suspect was seen on the convenience store footage using a stolen credit card.
The defendant was arrested by Chelmsford Police early this morning. WRIGHT was released on personal recognizance, but did not appear at Lowell District Court today for his arraignment.
A bench warrant has been issued for WRIGHT’S arrest and police are actively searching for him.
“We are asking the public for their assistance in locating the suspect to help bring justice to this crime,” Chief Spinney said. “The defendant betrayed the trust of the administration, staff and students at the High School and we will work to ensure his actions are prosecuted.”
