Boxborough Police Officers Complete Auto Crash Reconstruction and Crisis Intervention Training

BOXBOROUGH – Police Chief Warren Ryder and the Boxborough Police Department recognize Patrolman Jeffrey Landgren, Patrolman Patrick Colburn, and Sgt. Warren O’Brien for recently completing valuable training programs.

“We encourage our officers to further their training through various programs,” Chief Ryder said.  “Adding to their skill set can only help the department as a whole and we appreciate their dedication.”

Officer Landgren has completed a six-week program at the Boylston Municipal Police Academy to become a certified crash reconstructionist.  During the hands-on training sessions Landgren learned to establish formulas to calculate vehicle speeds, locations of persons and objects in the roadway, and reconstruct accident scenes.

Following the completion of his training, Landgren will become a member of the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council’s (CEMLEC) regional crash reconstruction team, along with Sergeant Brett Pelley of the Boxborough Police Department, who is already part of the team.

Officer Colburn and Sgt. Warren O’Brien recently completed Crisis Intervention Training (CIT), which was presented by the Taunton Community CIT.  Both officers completed 40 hours of training, which involves hands-on, intensive instruction on subjects such as mental health disorders and symptoms, de-escalation skills, substance abuse, and trauma/PTSD.  The program instructed officers on youth, adult, veteran, and homeless issues, and assisted officers in connecting with local mental health resources.
