NPSTW_2015_Header1

Police Departments across Massachusetts are commemorating National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, which runs from April 12-18 this year.

Below, a variety of police departments from across the state took time to talk to and photograph some of their on-duty dispatchers, who work hard every day to answer 911 calls, dispatch police and fire units, and talk to people when they need help the most.

We urge you to use, share, and publish the photos below from the following departments: Pepperell, Arlington, Bedford, Billerica, Chelmsford, Ipswich, Wakefield, Winchester, Merrimac, and Gloucester.

About National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week:

Every year during the second week of April, the telecommunications personnel in the public safety community, are honored.  This week-long event, initially set up in 1981 by Patricia Anderson of the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office in California, is a time to celebrate and thank those who dedicate their lives to serving the public. It is a week that should be set aside so everyone can be made aware of their hard work and dedication.

We encourage all of you to celebrate and honor yourselves, your co-workers, your bosses and your employees. Take the time this week to host a party, reach out to your local media and public officials, or launch an awards program. This blog will provide helpful tools and suggestions aimed at making National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week 2015 a memorable one for you and your colleagues.

Throughout the weeks leading up to NPSTW, you can return to this blog to gain information and useful resources to help you celebrate this important week.

Thank you, again, for all the sacrifices you make to create a better and safer world for the public. Your commitment to your profession is appreciated by all of APCO International, the public safety communications community, and the citizens you serve.
