LUDLOW– Select Board Chair Manuel Silva is pleased to share that the Town of Ludlow Select Board officially appointed Michael Brennan as the Ludlow Police Chief.
Chief Brennan was sworn in during a ceremony held on Jan. 22.
Chief Brennan previously served as the Provisional Chief of the department since August 2025, following the retirement of Chief Daniel Valadas.
Chief Brennan has been a member of the Ludlow Police Department for more than 20 years, starting his career in 2001. He rose to the rank of sergeant and was the department’s Special Response Team Coordinator.
Throughout his career with the Ludlow Police Department, Chief Brennan has been recognized on numerous occasions for his dedication to service and community, receiving many letters of recognition and commendations for his work within the department. He served as the department’s accreditation manager, helping the department achieve its first certification award for accreditation through the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission (MPAC).
Chief Brennan also takes pride in strengthening his education and knowledge, most recently achieving the high honor of the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy Award in 2022 after successfully completing three advanced law enforcement leadership training courses.
Before joining the department, Brennan was a safety dispatcher in Monson and served as a captain in the United States Army Reserve.

As I step into this new role, I am committed to maintaining that level of dedication and professionalism,” said Chief Brennan. “I would like to thank the Ludlow Select Board for appointing me to this position. I am excited to continue in this role with the support of the men and women of our department, and I look forward to seeing what we as a can accomplish together.”
