Essex Police Charge Driver After Motor Vehicle Rollover Crash

ESSEX — Chief Thomas Shamshak Jr. reports that the Essex Police Department responded early Monday morning to a serious single-car crash that led to the driver’s arrest. 

ANTHONY MAGLIONE, AGE 27, of IPSWICH, was arrested and charged with:

  • Operating Under the Influence of Liquor
  • Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Marked Lanes Violation

On Monday, July 21, at approximately 1:15 a.m., the Essex Police and Fire Departments were called to the area of Western Avenue and Apple Street for a report of a serious motor vehicle crash.

First responders discovered that a 2002 Lexus left the roadway, travelled through two yards and struck a wall before rolling onto its side and coming to rest against a Jeep Grand Cherokee that was parked in a driveway. 

The driver, identified as MAGLIONE, was treated at the scene for injuries and then transported to Beverly Hospital for additional treatment. MAGLIONE was placed under arrest at the hospital. 

MAGLIONE is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Gloucester District Court. 

These are allegations. All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
