GLOUCESTER — Chief Edward Conley reports that the Gloucester Police Department is actively investigating a series of car break-ins.
On Monday, July 21, at approximately 6:35 a.m., Gloucester Police responded to 12 Lexington Ave. for reports of multiple cars being broken into.
A preliminary investigation determined that two cars had their windows smashed, and personal belongings, including debit cards, were stolen. It was also determined that the victims were all in a fitness class at Freedom Fitness during the time of the thefts.
At 6:40 a.m., Gloucester Police were dispatched to Fitness Zone, 37 Blackburn Center, for another report of a car window being smashed and personal belongings taken.
It was also reported that another vehicle was found near Dory Road with its license plates stolen.
A short time later, at 6:54 a.m., Gloucester Police received a third report of a car break-in at North Shore 24 Fitness, 6 Whistlestop Way. Similarly to the other two incidents, the driver’s side window was shattered and personal belongings were taken.
Gloucester Police are actively investigating these incidents.
