Whitman Police Arrest Man Wanted in Florida on Fugitive from Justice Warrant

WHITMAN — Chief Timothy Hanlon reports that the Whitman Police Department arrested a Whitman man who was wanted by Florida authorities for a violation of sex offender probation.

FORREST SANTOS, AGE 49, of WHITMAN, was arrested on Thursday and charged as a Fugitive from Justice on a Court Warrant.

On Thursday, July 17, at approximately 11:39 a.m., Whitman Police Detective Paul Young learned that the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Department in Florida had a nationwide extradition warrant for SANTOS, who was living in Whitman.

Through a subsequent investigation, detectives learned that SANTOS was likely driving a black Jeep Cherokee.

At approximately 4 p.m. on Thursday, Detective Young, Detective Sgt. Patrick Burtt-Henderson, Detective Robert Silva, and members of the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Apprehension Unit noticed the suspect’s car during surveillance on Plymouth Street.

Detectives stopped the car and arrested SANTOS without incident.

SANTOS has been on probation in Florida for the offense of Possess, Control, or Intentionally View Sexual Performance by a Child While in Possession of 10 or More Images of Child Pornography. SANTOS was wanted by Florida authorities for violating his sex offender probation when he was charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle on May 25 by Abington Police. 

SANTOS was scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Brockton District Court.

“This arrest reflects the importance of strong interagency collaboration,” said Chief Hanlon. “I want to thank the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Apprehension Unit for their assistance in helping us safely apprehend this individual and ensure he will be returned to face justice in Florida.”

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
