Tewksbury Police Department Charges Three Men with Trafficking Fentanyl

TEWKSBURY – Chief Ryan Columbus reports that the Tewksbury Police Department arrested three men on fentanyl trafficking charges as a result of a lengthy joint investigation with several law enforcement partners.

JAIROL MUNOZ-MATEO, AGE 37, OF SALEM, was arrested and charged with:

  • Trafficking Over 36 Grams of Fentanyl

WANDY URBAEZ, AGE 22, OF DORCHESTER, was arrested and charged with:

  • Trafficking Over 36 Grams of Fentanyl
  • Trafficking in Fentanyl (six counts)

RAIDOR LUGO AYBAR, AGE 32, OF LAWRENCE, was arrested and charged with:

  • Trafficking Over 36 Grams of Fentanyl
  • Distribution of a Class A Substance
  • Trafficking in Fentanyl (three counts)

On Tuesday, July 1, the Tewksbury Police Narcotics Unit arrested MUNOZ-MATEO, URBAEZ, and LUGO AYBAR on numerous fentanyl trafficking charges as a result of a lengthy investigation that involved several law enforcement partners.

Billerica Police, Chelmsford Police, Tyngsborough Police, the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office and the Massachusetts State Police Commonwealth Interstate Narcotics Reduction Enforcement Team (CINRET) participated in a joint investigation that has been underway since December. 

As a result of investigative actions taken on Tuesday, July 1, police located approximately 40 grams of fentanyl and $1,850 in cash. Throughout the course of the investigation, police seized over 200 grams of fentanyl. 

MUNOZ-MATEO, URBAEZ, and LUGO AYBAR were arraigned Wednesday in Lowell District Court, where they were each ordered held on $100,000 cash bail. 

MUNOZ-MATEO is additionally wanted on an immigration detainer from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which was notified of his arrest.

“I want to thank our law enforcement partners in Billerica, Chelmsford, and Tyngsborough, as well as the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office and the State Police CINRET team,” said Chief Columbus. “Drug distributors do not stop at town lines, and collaborative efforts to stop them help us get results. We are deeply appreciative of the support.”

These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
