Firefighters Battling 2-Alarm Fire at Middleborough Home

MIDDLEBOROUGH — Chief Owen Thompson reports that the Middleborough Fire Department and its mutual aid partners are battling a two-alarm blaze.

MIDDLEBOROUGH — Chief Owen Thompson reports that the Middleborough Fire Department and its mutual aid partners are battling a two-alarm blaze.

Firefighters received a call at 9:16 p.m. Monday about a fire at 6 Locust St., a two-story home in South Middleborough. On arrival, crews found intense fire and immediately attacked the blaze from the outside.

The sole occupant of the home, a 67-year-old male, was rescued near a side entrance. He was transported by ambulance to Rhode Island Hospital. His condition is unknown.

As of midnight Tuesday, fire was still showing from the attic of the structure.

On-scene mutual aid is being provided by crews from Bridgewater, Carver, Lakeville and Wareham. Carver firefighters are also providing station coverage.
