RYE — Police Chief Kevin Walsh and Fire Chief Mark Cotreau report that Rye Police and Fire responded Tuesday when an unconscious surfer was pulled from the water at Jenness State Beach.
On Tuesday, Aug. 20, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Rye Police and Fire were called to Jenness State Beach for a report of a surfer who became unconscious while surfing.
Other surfers at the beach noticed something was wrong and pulled the surfer from the water, at which point state and Rye lifeguards began delivering critical life-saving care.
Rye Firefighters arrived to find an adult male, took over life-saving care, and transported the male to Portsmouth Regional Hospital for further treatment.
Based on a preliminary investigation, it appears the surfer suffered a medical emergency while surfing.
