AQUINNAH — Chief Randhi Belain of the Aquinnah Police Department and Chief Simon Bollin of the Aquinnah Fire Department would like to invite community members to the Town of Aquinnah’s 10th annual Public Safety Day event at the Aquinnah Circle Cultural District on July 20 from noon to 4 p.m.
The community is invited to attend this free event and to explore and learn about the emergency vehicles from the Aquinnah Police and Fire Departments, the Tri-Town Ambulance, the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah), the Dukes County Sheriff’s Department, Martha’s Vineyard Law Enforcement Council Tactical Response Team and the U.S. Coast Guard Station Menemsha.
The Aquinnah Fire Department will be cooking hot dogs and hamburgers, as well as providing clam chowder and ice cream. Free giveaway items will be available, including t-shirts, water bottles, frisbees and bubbles. A raffle of four tickets to a Boston Bruins home game will also take place.
The Massachusetts State Police Air Wing Helicopter is scheduled to conduct a landing inside Aquinnah Circle for spectators to watch during the event. The landing is weather and emergency-dependent.
The 17th annual Native American Artisan’s Festival will concurrently take place at Aquinnah Circle on July 20, hosted by the Aquinnah Cultural Center. Visitors can shop for works by Indigenous artisans, listen to live music, watch artist demos and partake in craft-making workshops.
