Dracut Fire Department Extinguishes Two Garage Fires in Two Days

DRACUT — Chief Richard Patterson reports that the Dracut Fire Department extinguished garage fires on successive days, in both cases quickly attacking fires to minimize damage. 

DRACUT — Chief Richard Patterson reports that the Dracut Fire Department extinguished garage fires on successive days, in both cases quickly attacking fires to minimize damage. 

On Thursday, June 27, at approximately 9:35 p.m., Dracut firefighters were called to 67 Mailloux Terrace for a report of a fire in a garage.

Companies arrived to find smoke showing from a garage, and quickly made an aggressive attack. Fire damage was contained to the garage and the home suffered some smoke damage.

No one was displaced. There were no reported injuries.

Pelham. N.H., firefighters provided mutual aid at the scene. 

The cause of the fire was determined to be careless disposal of smoking materials. 

On Friday, June 28, at approximately 1:05 p.m., Dracut firefighters were called to 854 Mammoth Road for a report of a fire in a building. 

Companies arrived to find fire showing from a garage underneath the home’s living quarters. Firefighters made an aggressive attack and knocked the fire down before it could spread beyond the garage. 

No one was displaced. There were no reported injuries.

Firefighters from Pelham, N.H., provided mutual aid at the scene. Firefighters from Lowell and Tyngsborough covered Dracut stations. 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Dracut Fire Department.

“With some very good, aggressive firefighting, we were able to knock the fire down and limit the damage in both instances,” said Chief Patterson.
