BILLERICA — The Billerica Police Department promoted Sgt. Cory Bandouveres to the rank of lieutenant as a result of an outstanding 10-year career with the department.

Lt. Bandouveres was promoted on March 15 and was sworn in by Town Clerk Donna McCoy at the police station.

Lt. Bandouveres is a Billerica native, and 2007 graduate of Billerica Memorial High School. After high school he served four years with the U.S. Marine Corps, earning the rank of Corporal before being honorably discharged.

Following his military career, Lt. Bandouveres earned an Associates degree in Business from Middlesex Community College. He also completed the Reading Police Academy in 2016, and joined Billerica Police as a patrol officer.

During his time as a patrolman, Lt. Bandouveres earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from UMass Lowell, and served as a defensive tactics instructor, Taser instructor, firearms instructor, Field Training Officer, and department armorer.

He was promoted to Sergeant in 2024, and in that role worked as a patrol supervisor. He then was appointed as the department’s Training Coordinator — overseeing training for the entire department, as well as the Field Training Program, Body-Worn Camera Program, Community Outreach Program, and Social Media Program. He also earned a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from American International College last year.

Lt. Bandouveres has served on the Billerica Police Department Honor Guard throughout his career.

In his new role as a Lieutenant, he will be assigned to the Patrol Division, while also continuing to oversee the Body-Worn Camera Program. He will also provide guidance to the Training Unit as needed.

Lt. Bandouveres lives in Billerica with his wife and three children.

“I want to thank my amazingly supportive wife and my three children. We love this town, and appreciate the support of our community,” Lt. Bandouveres said. “I’m excited to watch as my children grow in a safe and well-rounded community. I am very appreciative of the opportunity to serve as a lieutenant for the Billerica Police Department, and look forward to continuing the department’s legacy of excellent policing.”

“Lt. Bandouveres has had an outstanding career with our department, and I look forward to seeing where he will go in this new position,” said Chief Roy Frost.
