Mayor DeSimone Welcomes Arnold Lumber Company to Attleboro

ATTLEBORO — Mayor Cathleen DeSimone is pleased to welcome Arnold Lumber Company as it prepares to open its first Massachusetts location in Attleboro.

The family-owned Rhode Island company, which is now in its fourth generation and celebrating more than 115 years in business, will establish a new facility at 30 Franklin McKay Road. The company plans to use the site initially as a logistics and delivery point in April, with office staff and retail sales to begin by early summer.

“Arnold Lumber is a well-established company with a long history of serving contractors and communities across the region,” Mayor DeSimone said. “We are glad they chose Attleboro for their first Massachusetts location and look forward to the jobs and economic activity this investment will bring to the city.”

The new facility is expected to create at least 20 full-time jobs in its first year, with additional hiring anticipated as operations expand.

Arnold Lumber leadership said Attleboro’s location and business climate made it a strong fit as the company looks to expand into the Massachusetts market.

“As we grew interested in entering the Massachusetts market, we determined Attleboro offered exactly what we were looking for,” said Steve Rendine, Vice President of Multi-Family and Commercial for Arnold Lumber Company. “The City is uniquely positioned, both to Rhode Island where a lot of our existing customer base is and provides access to a lot of our business in Massachusetts. From a logistics standpoint, being near several major highways allows us to efficiently serve customers throughout the region. Just as important, the City has been extremely welcoming and easy to work with from the start.”

Arnold Lumber was founded in 1911 when Carold “Kitt” D. Arnold purchased a small wood lot at Ridge Hill in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. It has grown into a regional supplier with four locations in North Kingstown, West Kingstown and Westerly, serving builders and contractors across southern New England.

Mayor DeSimone noted that the project is one of several private developments underway in Attleboro, as the City continues to attract new investment.

“We are committed to creating opportunities in the City that support local jobs and strengthen our economy,” the Mayor said. “Arnold Lumber’s decision to locate here is another positive step in that direction.”
