TOWNSEND — Superintendent Brad Morgan and Principal Laurie Smith are proud to announce that North Middlesex Regional High School (NMRHS) has once again achieved Bronze status on the Advanced Placement (AP) School Honor Roll for the 2024-2025 academic year.
This is the second consecutive year that NMRHS has earned Bronze status on the AP School Honor Roll, which recognizes schools whose Advanced Placement programs have effectively prepared students for college success.
For a school to be recognized as Bronze on the AP School Honor Roll in a given year, it must meet the following criteria:
- College Culture: 40% or more of the graduating cohort took at least one AP exam during high school.
- College Credit: 25% or more of the graduating cohort scored a three or higher on at least one AP exam during high school.
- College Optimization: 2% or more of the graduating cohort took at least one AP exam during high school. At least one of those exams was taken in 9th or 10th grade so that students spread their AP experience across grades rather than feeling disproportionate pressure in any year.
NMRHS had students take an AP exam in 17 different course offerings in the 2024-2025 academic year.
“I am so proud of our Advanced Placement students, whose commitment to academics has merited this recognition,” said Smith. “I’d also like to recognize our staff members who teach AP courses for supporting our students and equipping them for success.”
The annual recognition is based on criteria that reflect a commitment to increasing college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit and maximizing college readiness.
College Board’s Advanced Placement Program enables students to pursue college-level studies — with the opportunity to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both — while still in high school. Through AP courses in 38 subjects, each culminating in a challenging exam, students learn to think critically, construct solid arguments and see many sides of an issue — skills that prepare them for college and beyond.
“This recognition is a testament to the commitment of our students and staff to providing an education that prepares students for post-graduate success,” said Superintendent Morgan. “We are honored to receive this recognition. I could not be prouder of our school for this achievement.”
