Reading Police Department Announces Car Seat Installation Events

READING — Deputy Chief Christine Amendola is pleased to share that the Reading Police Department will be hosting multiple car seat installation events for residents.

Car seat installations will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month, from Feb. 14 to June 13, at the police station, 15 Union St.

Reading Police have designated car seat technicians on staff who will assist residents with properly installing car seats.

The proper installation of car seats is vital to ensure safe travel and safe driving practices. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), approximately 325 children under 5 are saved by car seats in motor vehicle crashes per year.

Car seat installations are free for residents. Residents should bring the car seat manual and the height and weight of their child.

To schedule an appointment, residents should contact Sgt. Cody Costa at ccosta@readingma.gov or call and leave a message at 781-942-6799.
