WENHAM – Education and experience were on display Tuesday as the Wenham Police Department swore in two new supervisors and two new officers with support from the Select Board and the Town Clerk.
Officer Brian Pratt and Officer Marissa DeLucia were sworn in as new full-time police officers, while Officers Bart Connors and Michelle Princi were sworn in as new sergeants.
Town Clerk Dianne K. Bucco administered oaths to all four during a ceremony at the start of Tuesday’s Select Board meeting, after Chief Kevin DiNapoli introduced those being sworn in.
Among the credentials on display: Three master’s degrees, more than 20 years of law enforcement experience, and service in the U.S. Air National Guard.
Officer DeLucia graduated from the Lynnfield Police Academy in February. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Southern New Hampshire University, and a Master’s degree in Criminology from Merrimack College.
Officer Pratt has more than 20 years of experience working as a part-time Reserve Officer for Wenham Police and has also spent 25 years working as a full-time dispatcher in Danvers and Hamilton.
Sgt. Connors has nine years of part-time police experience and six years of full-time experience. He served for two years with the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council’s (NEMLEC) Rapid Response Team and is heavily involved in providing training via the Municipal Police Training Committee. Sgt. Connors holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology from Suffolk University, and a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from Boston University.
Sgt. Princi has 11 years of full-time police experience. She served for two years as a negotiator for NEMLEC and also serves as a Master Sgt./First Sgt. in the 203rd Intelligence Squadron of the U.S. Air National Guard. Sgt. “The Wenham community and Wenham Police Department will be well served by the education and experience that these four individuals possess,” said Chief DiNapoli. “A police department is only as good as the men and women who work in its ranks, and I am lucky to lead a department with such an eminently qualified, dedicated, and compassionate team.”
