ATTLEBORO — The Attleboro Fire Department responded to three major incidents within two hours early Monday morning, requiring significant coordination, staffing and resources.

“Attleboro experienced three major incidents occurring within a very short time frame this morning, each requiring significant personnel and resources,” said Attleboro Fire Assistant Chief Dennis Perkins. “Our firefighters were able to respond to all three scenes within minutes, establish command, and operate safely and effectively. This response reflects the training, coordination, and dedication of our members, as well as the strong mutual aid partnerships we have in place.”

Anhydrous Ammonia Leak
At approximately 5:55 a.m., Attleboro Fire crews were dispatched to a master box alarm at a manufacturing facility located at 50 Perry Ave.

When firefighters arrived, they determined that the facility’s anhydrous ammonia alarm had activated and elevated levels were detected inside the building. The leak was isolated to the room of origin.

The Massachusetts Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Division (Hazmat) was requested for a Tier 1 response. Hazardous materials technicians from the state team entered the affected area, confirmed the system had been shut down and verified that no further leaks were present. The room was ventilated until ammonia levels returned to safe limits.

Crews remained on scene until approximately 8:39 a.m. No injuries were reported.

Motor Vehicle Crash with Entrapment
At approximately 6:26 a.m., Attleboro Fire was dispatched to Interstate 95 southbound for a reported rollover crash.

When they arrived, crews located one vehicle approximately 50 feet into a wooded area with a single occupant trapped inside. Firefighters performed extrication operations and removed the patient, who was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The North Attleborough and Norton Fire Departments assisted with operations on scene.

Crews cleared the incident at approximately 7:24 a.m.

State Police are investigating the crash.

Three-Vehicle Motor Vehicle Crash
At approximately 7:45 a.m., Attleboro Fire responded to a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 295 northbound.

When they arrived, crews observed that one vehicle sustained moderate damage.

One person was transported by ambulance to Sturdy Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

Firefighters remained on scene for approximately 45 minutes.

State Police are investigating the crash.

The Attleboro Fire Department thanks its mutual aid partners and all responding agencies for their assistance.
