NORWOOD — Following a three-month intensive investigation into a September shooting, the Norwood Police Department announces the arrest of a male juvenile from Brockton.
Early this morning, Norwood Police Detectives, supported by the Brockton Police Department and the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office, executed an arrest warrant at a residence in Brockton. The suspect, a 16-YEAR-OLD MALE JUVENILE, whose identity is protected under Massachusetts law, was taken into custody without incident and booked at the Norwood Police Department.
The 16-YEAR-OLD MALE JUVENILE has been charged with:
- Armed Assault with Intent to Rob
- Conspiracy to Commit Robbery
- Attempted Armed Robbery
The charges stem from a Sept. 24 incident when Norwood Police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire in a residential area near the intersection of Columbine Road and Woodbine Road.
Through interviews and forensic investigation, detectives determined the shooting was not random. Investigators believe the victim was lured to the area under the pretense of a marijuana transaction and was targeted for an armed robbery.
“This arrest is the result of tireless work by our detectives and the critical cooperation of our law enforcement partners in Brockton and Plymouth County,” said Chief Christopher Padden. “While today marks significant progress, our work is not finished.”
The incident remains under investigation, with detectives actively pursuing leads related to the conspiracy and more charges expected to follow.
Anyone with information related to this incident, or who may have observed suspicious activity in the area on the night of Sept. 24 is asked to contact Detective Sinclair at 781-440-5193.
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. As this is an active investigation involving juveniles, and in accordance with Massachusetts state laws, the Norwood Police Department will have no further comment at this time.
