Mansfield Police Chief Ronald Sellon has been elected 4th VP of the IACP, the first time a Massachusetts chief has secured the office since 2012.

MANSFIELD — Ronald Sellon, Chief of the Mansfield Police Department, has been elected as the 4th Vice President of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), the first time a Massachusetts chief has secured the office since 2012.

The announcement came during the IACP’s 2025 Annual Conference in Denver, Colorado, attended by 16,000, where Chief Sellon was chosen by his peers to advance the organization’s mission of promoting innovative policing practices and professional development.

In this leadership position on the IACP Executive Board, he will continue to play a key role in shaping national and international policies. Chief Sellon is actively assisting with policy development for public safety responses related to intellectual and developmental disabilities.

While the scope of this achievement underscores the evolving challenges in modern policing, this role will open doors to invaluable resources, training programs, and advocacy opportunities that will directly strengthen the Mansfield Police Department, empower their officers, and elevate the safety and well-being of the entire community.

For the Mansfield Police Department, Chief Sellon’s election promises expanded access to IACP’s cutting-edge professional development, including specialized training in wellness, resilience, and constitutional policing. These resources will equip officers with advanced tools to address local needs, from mutual aid coordination to innovative emergency response strategies.

The Town of Mansfield stands to gain from heightened visibility and partnerships, fostering economic and safety enhancements.

Chief Sellon, a military veteran, licensed attorney, and graduate of the FBI National Academy, has long championed reforms in Mansfield, including cost-saving regional dispatch models and proactive community engagement.
