Hanson Police Department Celebrates Promotions and Commendation

HANSON — Chief Michael Casey and the Hanson Police Department celebrated a long list of promotions and a commendation on Tuesday evening at the Hanson Select Board meeting.

Hanson Police Sgt. Peter Daley Jr. was promoted to Lieutenant and pinned by his father, Retired Hanson Police Sgt. Peter Daley Sr. Lt. Daley has been with the Hanson Police Department since 2001 and will now serve as Operations Lieutenant.

Sgt. Elisha Durgin was promoted to Lieutenant and pinned by her husband, Bryan, a Captain for the Plymouth County Sherriff’s Office, and their daughter, Ellie. Lt. Durgin has been with the Hanson Police Department since 2013 and will now serve as Administrative Lieutenant.

Officer Robert Mansfield was promoted to Sergeant and pinned by his wife, Jules. Sgt. Mansfield has been with the Hanson Police Department since 2020 and will now serve as the midnight shift supervisor.

Officer Luke Whalen was officially sworn in as a Hanson Police Officer. Officer Whalen joins the Hanson Police Department from the Plymouth Police Department. He will complete the Department’s Field Training Officer (FTO) program before receiving his first shift assignment.

Officers Derek Harrington, Ben Ford and Kyle Crombie were recognized by the Hanson Select Board with a Life-Saving Commendation for their heroic actions on Sept. 2, when they responded to the report of an unconscious/unresponsive party and successfully performed lifesaving CPR for eight minutes while awaiting mutual aid EMS response.

“These officers represent the best of what we do each and every day,” said Chief Casey. “The Hanson Police Department is in strong, capable hands. Congratulations to all of our newly promoted officers. And congratulations to Officers Harrington, Ford and Crombie, who lived up to our core mission to save lives. All of these men and women are out in the Hanson community making a real difference.”
