“We would be honored to have your support as we pay tribute to our local fallen heroes,” said Chief Pinch. “We exist to serve the community, and in turn, we appreciate the community’s support. Please join the men and women of the Union Fire District of South Kingstown for our annual memorial ceremony and parade.”

The service, “In Memory of our Fallen Brothers,” will honor and recognize local firefighters who have died in the line of duty, including William E. Gray (Feb. 14, 1967), Byron H. Love (April 28, 1968) and Allan P. LePage (June 30, 2009). Those attending can thank local firefighters for putting their lives on the line to ensure the community’s safety.

The Firefighter’s Prayer

When I am called to duty God

Wherever flames may rage

Give me strength to save a life whatever be its age.

Help me embrace a child

Before it is too late

Or save an older person from the horror of that fate

Enable me to be alert

And hear the weakest shout

And quickly and efficiently

To put the fire out.

I want to fill my calling and

To give the best in me

To guard my every neighbor

And to protect his property.

And, if … according to my fate …

I am to lose my life …

Please Bless with your protecting hand …

My family, one and all.

“WHERE WE GO ONE, WE GO ALL”
