LENOX — Lenox Public Schools will welcome students back this September with its 2nd Annual Back-to-School Wellness Fair, an event designed to connect young people with local resources that support healthy living and self-care.
The fair will take place on Friday, Sept. 12, from 8 to 10:45 a.m. at Lenox Memorial Middle and High School.
The program brings together community partners who provide information and hands-on opportunities related to physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Presenters include representatives from Adams Community Bank, Arts in Recovery for Youth, author Elizabeth Heller, Berkshire Coalition for Suicide Prevention, Berkshire Pulse, Canine Link, Canyon Ranch, The Clark Art Institute, Elizabeth Freeman Center, Kripalu, Lenox Fit, Lenox Community Center, MassHire, Miraval, Tamarack Hollow Nature & Cultural Center, Transcending Roots Apothecary, and more.
The fair is open to 6th and 9th-grade students, offering them the chance to explore resources as they transition into middle school and high school.
Students will rotate through an interactive fair held in the school library, where they will learn about a wide range of wellness practices and supports. The event is modeled after a career fair, but with an experiential approach that focuses on self-care, relaxation, and awareness of local services.
The fair debuted in 2024 and was well-received by both students and presenters. Organizers say they hope to continue making it a tradition that helps students begin each school year with a strong focus on wellness.
“Starting the year with this fair gives students a reminder that taking care of themselves is just as important as their academics,” said School Adjustment Counselor Amy Higgins, one of the event organizers. “We want them to see that there are many ways to stay healthy and many people in their community ready to support them.”
