STOUGHTON — Chief Donna McNamara reports that the Stoughton Police Department arrested an Avon man who fled from an attempted traffic stop on Monday.
ADMAR PINA, AGE 39, of AVON, was arrested and charged with:
- Failure to Stop for Police
- Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Speeding
- Marked Lanes Violation
- Uninsured Motor Vehicle
- Unregistered Motor Vehicle
On Monday, Sept. 1, at approximately 10:30 a.m., Officer Michael Connelly was on patrol in Stoughton Center when he observed a Mercedes vehicle turn from Wyman Street onto Washington Street at a high rate of speed.
Officer Connelly learned that the vehicle’s registration was revoked and was able to visually confirm that PINA, the car’s registered owner, was the driver. He attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver fled at a high rate of speed.
The driver turned onto Wentworth Avenue, then Manor Drive at an apartment complex, where he fled on foot, jumping a fence into a wooded area on Sumner Street.
Police set up a perimeter and conducted a search with assistance from Randolph Police Officer Geoffrey Lucas and K-9 Csulok.
A short time later, Stoughton Police learned that PINA had called the Avon Police Department and attempted to report his vehicle as stolen from Stoughton, but was advised he needed to make the report in person.
At 1:30 p.m., Avon Police notified Stoughton Police that PINA was at the station to report his car as stolen. Stoughton Police responded to the Avon Police station and took PINA into custody without incident.
PINA was arraigned Tuesday in Stoughton District Court and released on personal recognizance.
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
