Wakefield Fire Battles Brush Fire

WAKEFIELD — Chief Michael Sullivan reports that the Wakefield Fire Department responded to and extinguished a brush fire yesterday evening. 

On Monday, Aug. 4, at approximately 4:45 p.m., Wakefield Fire responded to the woods behind 4 Oakland Road for reports of a brush fire. 

The affected area, less than one acre of land, was located on the east side of Crystal Lake off of Sylvan Avenue and Oakland Road.

No injuries or structural damage to nearby homes were reported. 

Crews remained on scene until 7:30 p.m. The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation also responded to the scene to assist. 

Wakefield Fire will be in the area again today to monitor any hot spots by wetting down the affected area.
