Stoughton Police Charge Armed Robbery Suspect

STOUGHTON — Chief Donna McNamara reports that the Stoughton Police Department has charged a suspect in the July 18 robbery of a School Street convenience store following a lengthy comprehensive investigation.

The suspect, a 16-YEAR-OLD MALE, OF STOUGHTON, has been charged with one count of Armed Robbery While Masked.

On Friday, July 18, at 3:19 p.m., Stoughton Police responded to a store at 257 School St. following reports of an armed robbery.

The suspect was described as a male, dressed all in black, who displayed a handgun, demanded money from the register and likely fled on a bike. Through an investigation Stoughton Police identified the suspect as the 16-YEAR-OLD MALE.

Stoughton Police worked with the Easton Police Department to locate the suspect and take him into custody without incident on Monday, July 21.

The 16-YEAR-OLD MALE was criminally charged for the armed and masked robbery on Wednesday, July 23 and will be arraigned at a later date.

“Thanks to the hard work of Stoughton Police Officers & Detectives and our cooperating partners in law enforcement, this violent gun crime was solved quickly and without violence,” said Chief McNamara. “We have a suspect in custody, who’s getting the help he needs. No innocent victims, or the suspect, were hurt in our pursuit of justice. That’s a job well done.”
