Good Harbor Beach Rescue
On June 24, at approximately 12:35 p.m., the Gloucester Police and Fire Departments were notified that a man was pulled from the water at Good Harbor Beach by lifeguards and bystanders.
Upon arrival, first responders learned that an off-duty nurse and City of Gloucester Lifeguards had pulled an unresponsive 77-year-old man from the water and began CPR and other life-saving measures, including administering one shock of an automated external defibrillator.
The man was breathing and responsive when first responders arrived, and was transported to an area hospital by Gloucester Fire Ambulance.
Annisquam River Rescue
On June 24 at approximately 7 p.m., Gloucester Police and Fire, and Gloucester Harbormaster were dispatched to the Annisquam Yacht Club for reports that a private boater had pulled three children, ages 5, 8 and 14, from the water of the Annisquam River.
An off-duty nurse on the private boat, Keri Ann Perry, performed CPR on the 5-year-old child while the boat’s pilot, Christian Dagley, drove them to shore. Christine and John Maney brought the other two children to shore on their boat.
Gloucester Fire transported them to area hospitals.
