TEWKSBURY – Chief Ryan Columbus reports that the Tewksbury Police Department arrested two men on drug charges.
JAMES BROOKS, AGE 49 of TEWKSBURY, was arrested and charged with the following:
- Distribution of a Class B Drug (Subsequent Offense)
- Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class B Drug (Two Counts) (Subsequent Offense)
SHAWN RICH, AGE 32 of TEWKSBURY, was arrested and charged with the following:
- Possession of a Class B Drug
On Wednesday, July 16, at approximately 7:15 p.m., Tewksbury Police Narcotics Unit observed what appeared to be a drug transaction at a home on Ward Street involving a black 2004 Nissan Titan and another individual.
Tewksbury Police, with the assistance of Billerica Police, conducted a motor vehicle stop of the 2004 Nissan and identified the driver as RICH. While conducting a search of his person, officers located a small clear bag containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine.
Through a preliminary investigation, officers were able to identify the other individual as BROOKS. Police conducted a search of BROOKS’ person and located a small bag of a white powdery substance, also believed to be cocaine, and cash.
RICH and BROOKS were arrested without incident.
The Middlesex Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit was called to the scene to search the Nissan. No other contraband was found in the vehicle.
RICH and BROOKS were arraigned in Lowell District Court on Thursday.
