EAST BRIDGEWATER — Chief Michael Jenkins is pleased to announce that the East Bridgewater Police Department has appointed Hunter Baker as a new full-time police officer.

Baker began his career as a public safety dispatcher for the West Bridgewater Police Department. He is a 2022 graduate of Whitman-Hanson Regional High School and holds an associate degree in criminal justice. He is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice at Bridgewater State University.

Baker is the first non-Civil Service hire since East Bridgewater Police began administering its own entrance exam last year.

On Aug. 11, Baker will begin the 22-week Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC) 22nd Recruit Officer Course at the Massachusetts Police Academy in Randolph.

Outside of work, Baker enjoys working out, staying active, and spending time with friends and family.

“We welcome Officer Baker to the East Bridgewater Police Department,” Chief Jenkins said. “We look forward to him making a positive impact in East Bridgewater, and we are confident he will excel in this new role. We wish him the best of luck during his upcoming training and continued success as he joins his new colleagues in serving our community.”
