West Bridgewater Summons and Charge Milford Man for OUI, Negligent Operation

WEST BRIDGEWATER — Chief Timothy Nixon reports that the West Bridgewater Police Department has summonsed a Milford man with alcohol-related charges following an investigation into a crash early Sunday morning.

An 18-YEAR-OLD MAN of MILFORD is being summonsed to Brockton Court and is being charged with:

  • Operating Under the Influence of Liquor
  • Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle

On Sunday, July 13, at about 12:08 a.m., police responded to the area of 724 West Center St. for reports of a car that struck a building and caught fire.

Police arrived on scene and observed a white sedan engulfed in flames. Three occupants of the vehicle, all male, were standing outside of the vehicle when police arrived.

The West Bridgewater Fire Department responded on scene shortly after to extinguish the flames.

Through an initial investigation, police determined that the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a building.

While speaking with the driver, officers detected a strong odor of alcohol. A subsequent investigation, including field sobriety tests and a breathalyzer test yielded a blood-alcohol content of .127, exceeding the state’s legal limit of .08.

One passenger, as well as another passenger who had initially fled the scene, were transported via ambulance to area hospitals for injuries not believed to be life-threatening. The driver of the vehicle was also taken to a local hospital by family members for treatment of injuries not believed to be life-threating.

The investigation into this case by the West Bridgewater Police Department remains active and ongoing.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
