CANTON — Town Administrator Charles Doody and Director Diane Tynan are pleased to share that the Town’s Department of Elder and Human Services (DEHS) hosted its annual Valentine’s Day Luncheon on Friday, Feb. 14, bringing 125 guests together for an afternoon of delicious food, dancing, and good company.

Held at the Canton Town Club on Bailey Street, which generously donated its function hall for the event, the luncheon has been a cherished tradition in Canton for more than 30 years.

The Valentine’s Day Luncheon was not billed as a couples’ event, but as an inclusive gathering for singles as well.

“Valentine’s Day can be a difficult day for some, but at DEHS, we make sure to provide an opportunity to get together with some familiar faces and make new friends, all in the spirit of love that this holiday is all about,” said DEHS Director Tynan. “It’s a time to cherish each other, strengthen our friendships, meet some new people, and have some fun together.”

Older adults from the community were joined by Town officials and local government leaders to enjoy the festive afternoon, which featured a catered meal from Russell Morin Catering, along with lively music from a DJ, and plenty of opportunities for dancing and conversation.

Town Administrator Doody expressed his appreciation for this Canton tradition and all the efforts of the DEHS team for making the luncheon such a success.

“Our Department of Elder and Human Services does an incredible job creating events that bring our senior community together in meaningful ways,” said Town Administrator Doody. “This luncheon is a wonderful tradition that fosters connection and joy, and we’re very grateful to everyone who worked behind the scenes and helped to make it another memorable year.”
