GEORGETOWN — Fire Chief Matt McKay is pleased to share that the Georgetown Fire Department will continue its “Santa Tour” tradition for a 29th year this holiday season.
WHEN:
Sunday, Dec. 8, starting at 10 a.m.
The tour will be held regardless of the weather unless the roads and conditions become hazardous. There will be no rain date.

WHAT:
The Georgetown Fire Department’s “Santa Tour” spreads holiday cheer throughout the community while collecting toys for the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program.
As Santa parades throughout neighborhoods in a Georgetown fire engine, residents will find toy collection trailers where they can donate new, unwrapped toys for children of all ages. Volunteers will be guiding the tour to direct residents toward the proper collection location.
The tour will also pass by the town tree and menorah lighting being held at Harry Murch Park for community members whose streets are not included in the tour route, or may not be home when they pass by.
Last year, the Department collected 4,191 toys, equating to more than one toy per Georgetown household. This year, the Department has set a goal to out-perform last year and collect 4,200 or more toys.
Residents can track the tour using this link: https://glympse.com/!gtfdsantatour, or by listening for the sirens.
The logo for this year’s tour was designed by Georgetown student Ella Newhall. Newhall’s design was selected by the Fire Department out of more than 50 applicants in the Santa Tour logo contest. Maddie Staude won the People’s Choice award, voted by the community as the best logo outside of the top three options from the contest.
“We are unbelievably eager to bring this event back to our community,” said Chief McKay. “Not only does this event bring much needed joy and spirit to our children and community, but it helps brighten the holidays for others who are celebrating in less fortunate circumstances. Myself and the men and women of the Georgetown FD are grateful to our sponsors and our community who continue to make this event successful.”
