TAUNTON — Chief Steven Lavigne reports that the Taunton Fire Department extinguished a working fire Wednesday at a three-family house on Somerset Avenue.
First responders received a call at 5:50 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, reporting a fire at 57 Somerset Ave., a three-family house with eight occupants.
Engine 3 arrived on scene four minutes later and found fire on the second floor that had extended to the attic. The fire was extinguished, and no one was injured.
Engines 1, 5 and 9; Ladder 2; and Car 2 also responded.
Two units sustained fire and water damage, and the other unit sustained water and smoke damage. The home was declared uninhabitable, and the Taunton Emergency Management Agency and the American Red Cross are working to find the residents housing.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Taunton Fire Department and the Taunton Police Department.
