SUDBURY — Chief John Whalen reports that the Sudbury Fire Department responded to a three-alarm fire on Hemlock Road Saturday night.

On Saturday, April 6, at approximately 8 p.m., firefighters received a report of a fire at a two-family home located at 82 Hemlock Road.

Upon arrival, firefighters attempted to attack the fire from the interior but were met by extremely heavy flames coming from the rear of the residence and were pushed back.

A second and third alarm were struck requesting additional apparatus and manpower.

No one was home at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.

The home is expected to be a total loss. Residents are being assisted by friends and family.

Crews are still working to extinguish the fire and are expected to remain on scene overnight for overhauling to ensure the fire does not ignite again, and as part of the initial fire investigation.

On-scene mutual aid was provided by Framingham, Wayland, Marlborough, Stow, and Concord fire departments. Lincoln, Bedford and Weston fire departments provided station coverage.

The fire is under investigation by the Sudbury Fire Department with assistance from the State Police Fire & Explosion Investigation Unit assigned to the State Fire Marshal’s office and the District 14 Regional Fire Investigation Team.
