ACTON — Fire Chief Anita Arnum reports that the Acton Fire Department responded to two fires on Monday, including a working fire at a large commercial building that was extinguished Monday afternoon.
On Monday, March 4, the Acton Fire Department responded to a van on fire near a garage at 193 School St., at approximately 6:21 a.m. Companies were able to prevent the fire from extending to the nearby garage. The van was totaled. There were no reported injuries.
Later in the day, at approximately 5:11 p.m., companies were called to the Haartz Corporation Headquarters at 87 Hayward Road for a report of a fire in the building.
Companies extinguished a fire in a large dumpster inside the warehouse style building. The fire was prevented from extending to the building. There were no reported injuries.
Both fires remain under investigation.
“A quick response to both of these calls ensured that a more major fire did not occur,” said Chief Arnum. “This is why we are always prepared to respond to calls as quickly as possible. The companies who responded to both of these calls did an excellent job.”
