Canton Fire Department Extinguishes Fire at Washington Street McDonald’s

CANTON — Chief Wendell Robery reports that the Canton Fire Department extinguished a fire at a McDonald’s located on Washington Street Monday night. 

On Monday, Feb. 12 at approximately 9 p.m., Canton Fire responded to 41 Washington St., the McDonald’s restaurant, for a report of a fire.

The building was evacuated prior to first responders’ arrival. No injuries were reported. 

Upon arrival, firefighters observed heavy smoke coming from the building. Crews subsequently discovered fire inside the walls of the front entrance. Crews then opened the outside walls where they found that the fire reached about halfway up the inside of the wall.

The fire was brought under control by about 9:45 p.m. 

Norwood Fire and Sharon Fire responded to the scene to provide mutual aid. Stoughton Fire provided station coverage and assisted in responding to two medical calls during the fire.

The building was handed over to the owners and will be closed for extensive repairs.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Canton Fire Department.
