Randolph Fire Department Extinguishes Fire in Apartment Building

RANDOLPH — Chief Ronald Cassford reports that the Randolph Fire Department extinguished a fire in an apartment building on Sunday night.

At approximately 5:50 p.m., Randolph Fire received a report of a fire at a 24-unit apartment building located at 27-29 Reed St. 

Upon arrival, first responders discovered smoke showing from the front of the first and second floors of the building and the building’s roofline. 

Residents of the building all safely evacuated on their own prior to the arrival of first responders. There were no reported injuries. 

The Milton and Holbrook fire departments assisted on the scene. Stoughton Fire, Milton Fire and Braintree Fire provided station coverage. 

The fire was quickly knocked down and declared under control at approximately 7 p.m. 

Minor to moderate damage was contained to three units, which were deemed uninhabitable. 

The American Red Cross of Massachusetts is assisting five residents, from two units, who were displaced as a result of the fire. 

The cause of the fire is believed to be electrical and is under investigation by the Randolph Fire Department, with assistance from the State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit attached to the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
