ASHBY — The Ashby Selectboard is pleased to announce the appointment of Mary E. (Calandrella) Daughraty as the new Town Administrator, effective Feb. 20.
Daughraty brings over 18 years of experience in municipal government administration, human resources, and project management to the Town of Ashby. She began her career in 2006 as a project coordinator for the Town of Chelmsford, where she worked on the town-wide sewer project.
A native of Tyngsboro and mother of four daughters, Daughraty served on that town’s Historical Board and has lived in Ashby since 2008. In 2012 she became Assistant to the Town Administrator of Ashburnham, where she oversaw various town departments as well as grants, contracts and budgets. In 2022 she became Human Resources Coordinator and Executive Assistant to the Town Manager of Winchendon. Her experience there honed her skills in managing personnel matters, labor relations, and workplace policy development.
“I am honored and excited to serve as the Town Administrator for Ashby,” Daughraty said. “I look forward to working with the Selectboard, the staff, and the community to achieve the goals and vision of the town.”
The Selectboard voted unanimously at its Jan. 31 meeting to appoint Daughraty as the Town Administrator after a thorough and competitive search process. The Board expressed its confidence in her qualifications, skills, and leadership abilities.
“We are delighted to welcome Mary as the new Town Administrator,” said Selectboard Chair Dave Nadeau. “She has a wealth of experience and knowledge in municipal management and human resources, and we believe she will be a great asset to our town.”
Ashby is a rural community of approximately 3,000 residents, located in north central Massachusetts, boarding New Hampshire to the north, Townsend to the east, Ashburnham to the west and Fitchburg to the south. The town offers a rich history, scenic views, and a welcoming atmosphere.
