Wakefield Police and Fire Respond After Van Crashes into Home

WAKEFIELD — Police Chief Steven Skory and Fire Chief Michael Sullivan report that the Wakefield Police and Fire Departments responded this morning after a motor vehicle crashed into a home.

On Thursday, Nov. 30, at approximately 7:27 a.m., Wakefield Police and Fire received reports of a van that had crashed into a home at 9 Kathleen Drive.

Upon arrival, crews observed a 2020 Chevy work van had struck the garage entrance on the right side of the home. The driver, the lone occupant, was trapped inside.

Wakefield Fire used hydraulic spreading tools to gain entry to the van and extract the driver. The individual was then transported to an area hospital for treatment of their injuries.

The home was unoccupied. There was considerable damage to the home and the building inspector responded to the scene.

There were no other injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Wakefield Police Department.
