
LUDLOW — Chief Ryan Pease reports that the Ludlow Fire Department responded to a reported fire at a condominium on Wednesday morning.
At 9:25 a.m., Ludlow Central Dispatch received a call from a resident reporting that there was a fire in the bathroom of her condominium located at 665 Center St.
Firefighters were on-scene within two minutes and observed smoke coming from the eves of the condo building. Firefighters initiated a fast attack and were able to contain the fire to the likely point of origin. Five minutes after their arrival and initial size-up, the firefighters had the flames under control.
Four residents in two total units of the building were displaced and were receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.
Mutual aid was provided at the scene by the Westover and Wilbraham Fire Departments, while the Chicopee Fire Department provided station coverage. The Ludlow Police Department responded and provided to the scene and provided aid and assistance.
No injuries were reported to residents or firefighters.
The origin and cause of the fire were investigated by the Ludlow Fire Department. It was determined that the fire was accidental, due to an electrical malfunction in a bathroom ceiling fan.
