Stoneham Police and Fire Departments Respond to Explosion, Minor Suffers Burn Injuries

STONEHAM — Police Chief James McIntyre and Fire Chief Matthew Grafton report that the Stoneham Police and Fire Departments responded and are investigating after a teenage boy was seriously burned outside a local residence.

Rescuers responded to a home on Pine Street at 8:32 p.m. for a 911 call reporting an explosion in the area. Upon arrival, police officers and firefighters found that a 14-year-old boy had sustained serious burn injuries.

The boy was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital for treatment.

The fire was out when first responders arrived, however investigators found a burned yellow fuel container nearby. The incident is under investigation by the Stoneham Police and Fire Department.
