RAYNHAM — Chief Bryan LaCivita reports that the Raynham Fire Department participated in an animal rescue operation on Monday.

At about 8:30 a.m., the Fire Department received a call for a horse named George who could not get up after he lay down at a boarding stable at 646 Locust St.

When crews arrived, they discovered the 1,500-pound draft horse could not get up.

The horse’s legs had “fallen asleep,” and the 18-year-old horse lacked the strength to right himself.

The Raynham Fire Department received mutual aid support from the Bristol County Technical Rescue Team, which provided a harness, and the Raynham Center Water District, which provided a front loader.

“Teamwork between the Bristol County Technical Rescue Team and the Raynham Center Water District was what made this a successful operation,” Chief Bryan LaCivita said. “Our Department is grateful for their assistance and professionalism.”
